Haselbacher: "I needed that"

Gerolsteiner's Rene Haselbacher wears number one in the Rheinland-Pfalz Rundfahrt and today he proved that he deserved it, by winning the second stage and taking over the leader's jersey.

"I needed that," said "Hasi," taking his first victory since another stage win in Rheinland-Pfalz in 2003. The Austrian, who finished third in the first stage, leads T-Mobile's Thomas Ziegler by 8 seconds. "In the sprint I didn't want to make the mistake of waiting too long. So I brought the thing home."

Austrian Gerhard Trampusch (Wiesenhof) finished third in the sprint behind Haselbacher and Ziegler.
