Giro transfer by plane

The Giro d'Italia organisers have announced that the long transfer from Belgium to Italy on May 9 will be done by plane, and not by night train as previously planned. Teams and riders had protested against the train transfer during the last months. After the end of stage three in South Belgian Hotton, the riders will therefore be transported to Italy with two chartered airplanes at nine o'clock in the evening. There will be a rest day after the transfer, and on the next day the Giro will continue with a team time trial.
