Celestino operated on

Mirko Celestino, team captain of Italian team Domina Vacanze, has undergone surgery on his left knee after a crash in Saturday's Giro di Lombardia. The rider went down in the descent of the Civiglio hill and had to abandon the race. Celestino was transported to Como hospital, then later transferred to Bergamo for the surgery.

According to Italian sources, the operation involving the micro-fracture of a bone and lesions to the surrounding cartilage was successful. Celestino will be able to leave the hospital tomorrow and return home, where he will observe complete rest for two weeks.
