Due to the overwhelming success of its 'L'Etape du Tour' cyclo-sportive event which allows amateur riders to tackle a stage of the Tour de France, organisers ASO are introducing a similar event, 'Etape de Légende', scheduled to take place on September 23. The new event will follow the route of one of the great stages in Tour history, from Strasbourg to Ballon d'Alsace where Raymond Poulidor lost all hopes of victory during the 1967 race.
As with 'L'Etape du Tour', the 8500 expected participants will enjoy fully closed roads, medical backup, feeding zones and entertainment along the 210km parcours. Those who were unsuccessful in gaining a place for L'Etape in July will be given priority in registration until April 20.
