2006 Team rosters

Wheel & Sprocket 2006 team

The Wheel & Sprocket Elite Cycling Team has announced its roster and sponsorship for 2006. The team, based in Appleton, Wisconsin, will focus on the National Racing Calendar and large Midwest races, including Superweek.

The team will be captained by two veteran professionals, Andy Crater and Shawn Willard. Andy was third at the 2005 Elite National Criterium Championship at Downer’s Grove, IL and was Superweek’s top overall amateur. Andy is a former Junior National Road Champion and has ridden professionally for Ofoto-Lombardi Sports, Lemond Fitness, Reality Bikes and Team Monex. Shawn, a former member of the Colavita-Bolla and Defeet-Lemond professional teams, has over 30 career wins and placed fifth at the 2005 NRC, US 100k Classic Omnium in Atlanta.

Other additions to the roster include Brandon Gavic and John Acker. Brandon spent much of 2005 racing in as an espoir in Europe with the Cycling Center and will also be racing as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s cycling team. John was the 6th ranked category I/II racer in Wisconsin in 2005.

The team will be directed by rider/manager Morgan Wiswall. Morgan was 6th overall in the Master’s 30+ category at Superweek in 2005 and has over ten years experience managing cycling teams.

Wheel & Sprocket, voted by the bicycle industry as the #1 bicycle dealer in the country, will be the team’s title sponsor. Other sponsors include Podiatrist Dr. Timothy K. Tougas, Charter Funding and Menasha Packaging. Industry sponsors include Trek, Bontrager, OS Performance Nutrition, Ritchey, Polar, Voler, Fizik, Giro, Shimano, Continental and CraterCoaching.com.
