MacInnes and Finlay this year's 10 Under the Ben Champs
Steve MacInnes and Helen Finlay won the 10 Under the Ben and enjoyed the reward of a Benromach single malt whisky at the finish. In its fourth year, the event was once more blessed with glorious sunshine as 436 of the total 925 endurance riders gathered to race solo and in teams of two, three and four. They started in the Forestry Commission Scotland's Leanachan Forest, ready to battle the dreaded midge and the ongoing threat of heat exhaustion against the backdrop of Ben Nevis.
MacInnes proved tougher than any other man on the course completing the gruelling 10 mile course a total of 11 times in 10 hours, 48 minutes, 46seconds as a solo rider. Finlay was the top female solo competitor completing the course eight times in 10 hours, six minutes, and 26 seconds.
10 Under the Ben was the first event of the Benromach Three Tens Series.The next event, 10 At Kirroughtree, is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at Galloway Forest Park. The final series event, the 10 More in Moray, happens August 23.
