Wrapping up the World Cup
The 2006 UCI mountain bike world cup comes to a close in Schladming, Austria this weekend. Newly crowned cross-country world champions Julien Absalon and Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa (third time for Absalon, fourth for Dahle-Flesjaa) will be looking to add one more jersey to an impressive collection which includes almost every major championship available to an elite cross-country racer.
Steve Peat has a comfortable lead in the world cup downhill competition, as does countrywoman Tracey Mosely. Mikal Prokop and Jill Kintner, complete with matching world championship jerseys, have both already secured world cup wins in Four Cross.
